About
My work is informed by more than three decades of experience founding and leading organizations and community initiatives, including Recreational Respite, a national organization I founded in 2008. This experience shapes how I understand people within the context of their relationships, environments, and lived realities. I work with adults navigating neurodivergence, disability, chronic illness, health changes, midlife transitions, burnout, grief, trauma, and life’s many changes. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, solution-focused, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming. I am trained in and draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and practices, including EMDR, CPT, IFS, CBT, ACT, EFT, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and expressive arts (including Bibliotherapy). I hold a BA (Hons.) in Disability Studies and an MA (Hons. and Distinction) in Counselling Psychology. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in independent practice and in good standing with the CRPO, and a member of the CCPA.
How I use The Book Therapy Method™
I incorporate bibliotherapy into my therapeutic work by using carefully selected books as invitations to reflection, self-understanding, and conversation. Through stories, characters, and ideas, we can explore experiences, relationships, identity, grief, and change in ways that feel meaningful to the individual. The process is collaborative and flexible, guided by what resonates with each person rather than by a prescribed reading plan.
