About
Books have always been a source of comfort, reflection, and guidance. As a Bibliotherapy and Literary Reading Mediation specialist, my mission is to bridge the science of healthcare with the healing power of literature, creating safe spaces for emotional well-being and self-discovery. My formal path in this field began with a postgraduate degree in Bibliotherapy and Literary Reading Mediation from the Brazilian university Unochapecó. This academic foundation complements my 26-year career as a nurse, which includes 18 years as a Clinical Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing. My journey began in pediatrics, moved through the high-intensity environments of the Emergency Department and Neurosurgery Intermediate Care, and for the past several years, I have embraced the profound challenges of hospital oncology. To greatly complement my hospital practice in oncology and significantly enrich my bibliotherapy work, I am currently pursuing my second specialization through a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, while also completing the Mental Health Bibliotherapy certification with Book Therapy. In addition to my clinical and private practice, I am honored to serve as the Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Bibliotherapy (Associação Portuguesa de Biblioterapia), working actively to expand the recognition of reading mediation in health and community spaces. I facilitate both individual and group bibliotherapy sessions, carefully selecting literature to echo each person's unique life transitions, grief, or personal growth. By combining over two decades of robust clinical expertise with literary sensitivity, my goal is to guide individuals and groups toward emotional balance and healing through the transformative power of words."
How I use The Book Therapy Method™
I apply The Book Therapy Method™ across both my private practice and institutional projects to facilitate deeper self-awareness and emotional balance. In individual consultations, I utilize the method's approach to tailored bibliotherapy, matching specific literary insights with the client's inner journey. In my group circles, the method provides a beautiful blueprint for creating safe, compassionate spaces where shared texts stimulate collective reflection, breaking isolation and enhancing psychological well-being."
